4D Art – Steve Forde – Acrylic and Veneered MDF

Steve Forde, of 4D ART is a commercial artist and designer who lives in South London. He studied fine art and design before going on to specialise as a graphic designer.

Steve’s artworks depict some of London’s finest architectural gems. The materials used are cherry veneered MDF, contrasting with the backgrounds that are high gloss Perspex, which provides splashes of pure saturated colour.

The process Steve has perfected over the years starts with photographing the building and then creating the drawing and vector file, which can take up to 8 weeks, after the artwork is provided to us, the lasers cut and engrave the veneered MDF.

Although the artworks are labelled as editions, each one is individual, as they are all hand made, so variations occur. The wood is also different on each artwork: shade, grain patterns and natural markings all vary across the pieces.
