E.chromi – Living colour from bacteria

E. chromi was a collaboration between two designers Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg and James King and scientists from Cambridge university. Both explored the concept of genetically engineering bacteria to secrete a variety of coloured pigments, visible to the naked eye.

Laser foam cutting display case

The interior parts of a display case for the ‘Biobricks’ were laser cut from polyethylene foam. The laser was used to cut the foam in sections that were layered up to build volume. Also to allow for the staggered edge detail. The foam was inserted onto a pre-made metallic case.

You can produce a wide range of display box interiors for many different applications. We use Zotefoam or polyurethane foam sheet ranging from 3mm to 25mm!
